    Series Dates

    August 27 to 31, 2016.

    Race Distances

    Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K every day, 50K on Saturday.

    Start Time

    6:00 AM MDT for all 5 days.

    Time Limit

    No runner left behind. Walkers are welcome! Early start option is self supported until official start.It is recommended to take early start option if you are walking longer than 8 hours race.

    About This Event

    New Mexico State Parks Series is 5 days of annual event where marathons and Half Marathons, 50Ks, 10Ks and 5Ks are ran on beautiful State Parks were you could run / walk and enjoy peaceful and friendly races 5 days in a row. You may choose to run 1 or 5 days or any combination of races.

    Total Distance

    Total Travel Distance for 5 parks approximately 280 miles.Close airports, Albuquerque, Denver, Lubbock and Santa Fe.

    Aid Stations

    There will be one aid station with water, sport drink, food and snacks at start / finish area every 1-2 miles. Portacans available at start area. Early start option is self supported until official start.

    T-Shirt / Finisher Medal

    Each participant will receive a custom shirt, different design finisher medal for each day and official time. Ultra finishers will get extra Ultra Finisher medal. 5 days challenge finishers will get extra challenge medal!

    Registration

    No race day registration. Registration is currently set to close at 100 participants for the all events per day. On line registration will close 24 hours before each race day.

    Packet Pickup

    5:30am each day at the start line.

    Finishing results will be available on official website.


    Sugarite Canyon State Park Day 1

      Sugarite Canyon State Park - Elevation: 7500

      Course description

      This course runs in Colorado and New Mexico both. Out and back 2.19 miles, Cones at turnaround for all distances. Pavement road and dirt path; low rolling hills.

      Number of laps

      6 for half marathon,12 for marathon

      Directions

      From Raton, go east on NM 72, then north on NM 526. Continue through the park on NM 526. The start is at the north end of Lake Mayola. Sugarite Canyon State Park is 8 miles from Raton.

      More Information

      While you are at Sugarite make sure to stop and visit the historic coal camp. Also, be on the lookout for wildlife as deer, elk, bear, turkey and other wildlife frequent the park.

    Eagle Nest Lake State Park Day 2

      Eagle Nest Lake State Park - Elevation:8200

      Course description

      Out and back with a loop around the campground, 1.31 miles, pavement, gravel and one rolling hills.

      10 for half marathon, 20 for marathon

      69 miles

      Directions

      From the town of Eagle Nest go south on US 64 and turn left into B11 B to the state park. The start is at the Park Visitor Center parking lot.

      More Information

      While at Eagle Nest take time to tour the exhibits in the visitor center. Anglers can take advantage of great salmon and trout fishing. Also in the area is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park in Angel Fire. It is the first and only State Park in the nation dedicated to veterans.

    Coyote Creek State Park Day 3

      From Angel Fire 40 miles on NM-434 S to Mora County, turn left onto NM-518 S about 5 miles to Coyote Creek State Park. Start is at parking lot close to bathroom.

      Coyote Creek about an hour southeast of Taos, is nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains along a meandering stream. Enclosed by a forest of spruce and pine, the small valley displays abundant wildflowers and beautiful fall foliage.

    Conchas Lake State Park Day 4

      While at Conchas Lake take time to tour the exhibits at the State Parks Visitor center and the Army Corps of Engineers visitor center. Various wildlife frequent the park and angling is always a favorite pastime at Conchas.

      From Logan, go west on Hwy 540 and turn into the park. The start is at the Visitor Center parking lot.

      While at Ute, take time to enjoy the nature trail and perhaps do a bit of bird watching. The lake is home to several species of waterfowl and various migratory birds throughout the year. Boating and angling are also a major attraction for the area. If you feel like getting in a bit of golf, you can visit the Nicklaus design 9 hole course at nearby 12 Shores.
