    All races, Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 50K start at 7:00am each day. The ultra 100 and 50 mile runners have early start option, you will have 3 days to finish.

    About This Event

    I Ran Marathons Anniversary is 3 days of annual event where marathons, Half Marathons, 50 Mile, 100 Mile, 50K, 10K and 5Ks.
    We will celebrate I Ran Marathons 3rd year Anniversary for 3 days this year at Government Canyon State Natural Area in San Antonio Texas. This is also beginning of spring which is celebrated in many cultures as well as Iranian New Year.
       This park has more than 40 miles of hiking and biking trails that range from remote rugged canyon lands to gently rolling hills and flat padded jeep roads. You can also get camping permit and stay overnight.  We are keeping the tradition to run 3rd year of 100 mile race at Government Canyon State Natural Area. This 100 mile race is intended for first time 100 mile runners, without having to worry about hard trails, cutoff time or not finishing. 
       You may run / walk and enjoy peaceful and friendly races 3 days in a row. You may choose to run 1 or 3 days or any combination of races.


    The course is 5 miles loop at the Front County, very easy flat single track course, some rocks and roots.
       Marathon - 5 X 4.9 Miles loops and 2.4 Miles out and back.
       Half Marathon - 2 X 4.9 Miles Loops and 3.5 out and back.
       50 Miles - 10 X 4.9 Miles Loops and 2 Miles out and back.
       100 Miles - 21 X 4.9 Miles Loops.
       50K - 6 X 4.9 Miles Loop and 2.4 Miles out and back.
       10K - 4.9 Miles Loop and 1.4 out and back
       5K – 5K out and back.
       There will be cone / turnaround signs for all distances.


    You may park at race start area parking lot C, come early to get a good spot for parking right next to trailhead. There is a $10 park fee which is not included in the race registration. If you have an annual state park card, you may get in for free. Please arrange with park officials for campground permit. Sleeping in your car or trailhead will not be permitted unless you have paid camping fees. You must have permit sticker on your car visible for park ranger in order not to get a violation ticket.

    Drop Bags

    You may have drop bag / cooler at start area, please keep it to minimum and sealed out of reach of animals. Your car can serve as aid station since it is only few feet from the start area. All races extend to night will be self-supported unless we have enough volunteers to stay up all night. You may have crew to support you at all times. Crew / pacer must pay park fee and if running more than 10K, they must register for race. Please ask your pacers to bring their own supplies, this is a small race and we can’t afford to pay for crew supply unless registered runner.

    Aid Stations

    There will be one aid stations at start and finish area. We will have drinks and snacks, fully stocked intended for ultra running. You are also minutes from stores and restaurants to get your support team to bring you food. Bathrooms with running water at start and finish area.

    T-Shirt / Finisher Medal / Buckle

    Each participant will receive a custom designed T-Shirt. Marathon, Half Marathon, 50 Mile, 50K, 10K and 5K will receive a finisher medal for each day. Ultra runners will receive an extra ultra finisher medal. The 100 mile finishers will receive a Buckle.
       Please remember to collect your medal and awards before leaving the race. We will not be able to mail any medals to you later.


    Awards will be given for those running the 3 days challenge. Please remember to collect your award before leaving the race, we will not be able to mail to you later.


    Registration is currently set to close at 60 participants for all events each day. Entry is non-transferable and non-refundable. There is no race day registration. On line registration will close at 8pm each day before race day. You may also drop back to less distance and will still get credit, if your plans change and decide to stop.


    This race is manually timed and there will be a time keeper to keep track of your laps and finish time. The laps will be recorded by time keeper and you may also chose to get rubber bands at each lap to keep track.

    Alternate Plan / Course

    This Park does not allow people on the trail in case of rain. The alternate plan will be to run at the road inside park which will be closed to public, or all paved Leon Creek trail. We have never cancelled a race for rain, heat, storm or anything else in past 3 years.


    We need volunteers for all 3 days EMT is a plus and you don’t have to be certified. You may also use your past volunteer hours to run any of the days, 8 hours for marathon and less distances, 16 hours for 50K and 32 for 50 and 100 milers.
